Time Saver Maids is currently re-scheduling our daily deal vouchers and appreciate the kind words of those who understand how the cleaning business works. For those who feel it necessary to provide a rant of their two cents on how a cleaning service conducts business, as a voucher holder stated herself, " If you can do it better, by all means quit crying and get it done, until then, you will get it cleaned before it expires, enough with the princess act ". We do issue a computer generated route sheet daily, as it would make no sense to a layman in the service industry of cleaning, to issue a route a week in advance when the route changes by the hour with cancellations, illness, issues, new customers and so on.
Your the daily deal companies signed you up as customers, the daily deal companies received your monies, no one at Time Saver Maids took your money and not serviced you outside of our agreement with the daily deal companies. We are baffled by the lack of common sense when providing slander about Time Saver Maids defrauding" them personally and "stealing" their money. Your issue if wanting or needing a refund would lie with the daily deal site in which you are a customer of. We do not take certain customers "words of wisdom", when it comes to how "they" believe this company should be operated, with a grain of salt and have a great retention rate on daily deals, thank you. If your going to use a ranting site as a platform to have yourself heard by a few people then we encourage you to vent and make yourself feel better inside. For those who have been and are patient we appreciate it and you will be service as soon as humanly possible. Due to overwhelming support from our friends and incredible customers we have been able to begin the daunting task of moving our office to a new location before the insurance companies fight it out and drag their feet any further. We look forward to serving you soon and once again appreciate your kind words and prayers.
Time Saver Maids' administrative office was hit by a fire from an adjacent office space. The insurance and fire investigators have made it so that our staff have very limited access to our computers, data and server stored phone files. We are currently moving our server and what little office materials we can to a temporary office space today. Our current customers have all been notified via out text system and we appreciate your kind words and patience. Daily deal voucher holders have NOT been so kind nor patient and we are extremely disappointed and saddened by the type of people the daily deal sites have as customers. We are working diligently to resolve any delay or rescheduling needed and do not appreciate the added drama caused by rude, impatient and non-compassionate people. If your not willing to be patient and realize that the voucher doesn't expire tomorrow feel the need to be rude, please direct your rudeness to the company in which you purchased the voucher and let them deal with your behavior. We have had an outpouring of support from our Susan G team and wish to thank you girls for your assistance in this tragic event. We hope to have our office up and operational by early next week and get people rescheduled as soon as humanly possible. Thank you again for those who have offered your prayers and support.
From Time Saver Maids

If your like us here in the office, your loading up on Pumkin Spice Lattes from Starbucks right about now... So heres some easy tips on how to get rid of those pesky stains from your now and again drips and spills....

Coffee Stain Removal

Coffee stain removal can be done easily if you follow a few simple tips. As with any stain, coffee stain removal should be done immediately if possible. The longer the stain has a chance to set, the harder it will be to remove.
Using a clean white cloth, blot the stain to remove any excess liquid. Coffee stain removal can also be done with a mixture of dishwashing liquid and luke warm water or with the use of 1/3 cup of white vinegar and 2/3 cups of luke warm water. You can use either coffee stain removal solution and sponge gently to remove the stain.
Once the stain has been lifted, you should rinse with cold water and launder according to the labeled instructions for care.
Coffee Stain Removal for Carpet
Coffee stain removal on carpet can be done in the same manner as above. Using the same solutions of dish detergent and water or vinegar and water, the area can be blotted, sponged, blotted, and rinsed.
If the coffee stain removal left behind any excess discoloring, you can use your shampooer for further results.
Thanks For Visiting Time Saver Maids
Time Saver Maidshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07811641928070240359noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5434017411609640781.post-34059610123407480882011-08-26T14:21:00.000-07:002011-09-09T18:23:39.141-07:00Tips! How To Clean Tile And Grouted Countertops - Monthly TipsTime Saver Maids Tips!

How To Clean Tile And Grouted Countertops

Kitchen countertops can come in a variety of different materials, colors, and sizes. A very popular countertop finish is tile. Tile countertops can add a great certain elegance to a kitchen. While tile is easy to clean immediately after a spill, it can begin to show signs of dirt, stains, and even mildew in the grout. Regular deep cleaning will keep your tile looking new. Here are some easy steps and very basic cleaning items.

Tools and Materials Needed:

Toothbrush

Tile Cleaner

Clear Nail polish

Rubber Gloves

Step 1 - Clean Countertop

Rinse down the countertop with a spray bottle of warm water and mild dish detergent to get the regular, everyday dirt off.

Step 2 - Use Tile Cleaner
Thanks For Visiting Time Saver Maids
Time Saver Maidshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07811641928070240359noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5434017411609640781.post-88183692306962348522011-06-18T10:24:00.000-07:002011-09-12T22:26:45.551-07:00Tips! - Homemade Toilet Bowl Cleaner Recipe - From Time Saver MaidsTips! Homemade Toilet Bowl Cleaner Recipe

If you're tired of paying for costly commercial household cleaners, it may interest you to learn that you can easily make your own toilet bowl cleaner with the aid of a few household items. The following steps will teach you two of the most common recipes for homemade toilet cleaners.

Tools and Materials Needed

Bleach

Water

Borax

Lemon juice

Vinegar

Empty spray bottles

Toilet brush

Step 1 - Make a Bleach-based Cleaner
Bleach is the active ingredient in a highly effective homemade toilet bowl cleaner. Begin by combing 1 cup of bleach with 5 to 10 cups of warm water. Stir the mixture and fill the empty spray bottle, taking care to pour any excess into additional spray bottles for later use. After spraying down your toilet bowl, allow your cleaning solution to sit for 1 to 3 minutes before using a toilet brush to expel any grime from your toilet bowl.

Step 2 - Make a Borax-based Cleaner
If your toilet bowl has been plagued by stubborn stains, combine 1 cup of borax with 1/4 cup of vinegar or lemon juice. After mixing the solution, pour the toilet bowl cleaner into an empty spray bottle and proceed to vigorously spray down your toilet. Allow the cleaner to set for 15 to 20 minutes and use a hard-bristled toilet brush to scrub the stains away.
Thanks For Visiting Time Saver Maids
Time Saver Maidshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07811641928070240359noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5434017411609640781.post-70818474527507582402011-05-21T16:37:00.000-07:002011-09-11T14:39:13.434-07:00Tips! - Caring For Your Down Pillows - From Time Saver MaidsTips! - From Time Saver Maids

Caring For Your Down Pillows

Nothing compares to the delicious luxury of lying your head on down pillows. With proper care, a down pillow can provide years of indulgent sleep cradling comfort.
Use a Pillow Liner
All down pillows need a 100% cotton zip pillow liner to protect the ticking. This liner is in addition to a pillow case. This will protect your pillow from head oils and humidity. It will also help contain the small down fluffs from working their way out of the pillow while maintaining the pillow's shape. A daily fluffing is the next step in caring for your feather pillows. This prevents the feathers from clumping and provides air circulation, preventing dust from getting into the pillow.
Twice a year, it's time to air out those pillows. Hang them on a clothes line to swing in the breeze for a day or find another airy location near a window or in a sun room. Do not hang them in the bathroom; there will be too much moisture.

Deep Clean Annually
An annual deep clean is the final step to keep your feather pillows fresh. Read the manufacturers instructions on the label to determine allowable methods. Some will be limited to dry cleaning only. Before laundering, check pillow carefully for any small slits or holes to avoid a feathery mess surprise in your washing machine. Repair as needed.
If you decide to wash your pillows there are two methods:

Wash with a front loading wash machine. Top loaders are too harsh on these types of pillow. The best front loaders to use are the large industrial types found at the laundry mat. These large loaders put minimal pressure on the pillow providing ample space to do a thorough job of cleaning without squashing or flattening the pillow. Use the delicate setting with a mild detergent.

When drying, use the lowest warm setting possible. Toss a few clean, dry towels in with the pillow to accelerate drying times. Clean tennis balls tossed into the dryer will also help the pillow stay fluffy while drying. Insure pillows are completely dry before returning them to your bed.

Hand wash your down pillows. Using a large utility sink or even the bath tub would be fine. Gently hand manipulate the pillow for 10 minutes. Once washed, do not wring out! Squeeze the pillow just enough to remove most of the water, then place in dryer, set on the lowest warm setting. Add the dry towels and tennis balls.

Do not be alarmed if you smell an odor from your wet pillows. This is a normal characteristic of all down products and will disappear when completely dry. It will take approximately 2 to 3 hours for your pillow to be completely dry, to be put back in the pillow case.

From Time Saver Maids
Can You Remove Crayon from Fabric?

Crayon melted on clothing or other fabrics may seem impossible to remove. All you need are a few cleaning supplies and some time to remove crayon from fabric.

Non-washable Fabric
Apply ice to any caked on crayon to harden it. Use a butter knife to carefully scrape off excess. Test an inconspicuous spot on the fabric and place it on an absorbent pad. Flush the stain with a dry cleaning solvent and allow to air dry. Repeat if necessary

Washable Fabric
Scrape off any excess crayon material. Spray laundry stain remover on the spots and let sit for 5 minutes. Soak clothes in hot water and 1 cup Oxyclean for 1/2 hour to 1 hour. Wash in hot water with 1 cup Borax, 1 cup white vinegar, 1 cup Oxyclean and 1 cup laundry detergent. Repeat if necessary.

Upholstery and Carpet
Apply ice and scrape off excess crayon with a butter knife. Apply WD40 to the stained area and let it sit 5 minutes. Scrub area with a brush, wipe with an absorbent cloth and repeat as necessary. Apply dishwashing liquid and rub it into the stain. Wipe off with an absorbent towel and rinse with a damp sponge.
Re: Time Saver Maids acquires small maid service route and expands in Orange County

Great news from the news desk of Time Saver Maids. Just as we added a new computer system and software program, we had an opportunity to purchase a small route - 36 accounts - in Orange County. We are now servicing account in the San Clemente, San Juan Capistrano, Dana Point, Mission Viejo, Aliso Viejo, Laguna Niguel, Lake Forest, and Irvine areas. So what does that mean to everyone? Time Saver Maids has made the move to expand north, by about 30+ miles or so. Not a huge move, but with the ever expanding need for great housecleaning knocking on our door, it is a move that is about 2 years in the making. This is our 3rd purchase of maid service routes in southern California and each one has been successful and had added to our company portfolio of great customer accounts.

We look forward to serving these new customers and hope to make a real presence in the Orange County are shortly.
From Time Saver Maids

Removing Coffee Stains from Couch Cushions

Coffee stains on couch cushions are considered difficult to remove, however, it is possible to have stain-free cushions without having to go to the drycleaner’s. Ideally, you should act as soon as you have spilled the coffee. There are several solutions you can use staring from liquid detergent to baking soda and salt.

You Will Need:

Water

Liquid detergent (dishwashing detergent)

Baking soda and salt

Club soda

Ginger ale

White towels

Clean piece of cloth

Stain remover

Vinegar or diluted bleach

Step 1 – Remove Cushion Covers
Try to remove the cushion covers as soon as you have spilled the coffee to prevent the coffee from spreading on the rest of the cushion or cause a larger stain. If you don’t have removable cushion covers, skip this step

Step 2 – Remove Excess Liquid
Remove the excess liquid using a towel or a clean piece of cloth. It’s important that the towel or the piece of cloth you use is white, as dyed fabrics may leave color behind and cause additional staining.

Step 3 -- Rinse Thoroughly
Put the cushion cover or the entire cushion under cold water and keep it there for at least 5 minutes. You may notice that part of the stain is gone.

Step 4 – Apply Liquid Detergent or Alternative Cleaning Solutions
Apply bleach-free liquid detergent on the coffee stain. Allow to settle for up to 10 minutes. Then, insert the cushion cover or cushion under warm water and soak for at least 30 minutes.
Instead of the liquid detergent, you may use other substances as well.
Baking soda and salt can be used, but in this case you will have to skip step 3. The powder should be applied on the cushion and left for 30 minutes.
Club soda may be applied on the stain for 1 minute and then blotted with a towel. Ginger ale may be used in the same manner as club soda.

Step 5 – Rinse Again
Rinse with clean water. Avoid rubbing to remove coffee stains, as rubbing may only enlarge the stain or cause additional wear to the couch cushion. Also, rubbing may cause discoloration or a change of color of the area.
If you have applied baking soda and salt, you won’t require rinsing, but you will have to vacuum the cushion or remove the powder with a clean towel.

Step 6 – Use Stain Remover
If the coffee stain on the couch cushion persists, you should get a commercial stain remover. Apply the solution on the cushion and then wash the cushion cover. If the cover is not removable, you may wash the entire cushion, but if this is filled with feathers, washing may not be a solution.
Instead of the stain remover, you may use diluted vinegar (1 part vinegar, 2 parts water) or diluted bleach (1 part bleach, 10 parts water), which may eliminate traces of coffee stain, but may cause slight discoloration. You may test the solution on a small area of the stained cushion to see if the discoloration is visible.
Thanks For Visiting Time Saver Maids
Time Saver Maidshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07811641928070240359noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5434017411609640781.post-15554486825077746892011-01-12T10:08:00.000-08:002011-09-12T22:11:57.556-07:00Tips! - How to Use a Can of Cola to Clean a Toilet - From Time Saver MaidsTips!
How to Remove Calcium Buildup from a Toilet Bowl
The toilet bowl is made out of porcelain. Excessive flow of hard water leads to calcium deposit in the toilet bowls. Even though in the short run it may not cause any harm, as time goes by, the calcium deposit can erode the toilet bowl.

Tools Required:

Pumice Stone

Rubber Gloves

Step 1 – Prep Work and Scrubbing
There is no need to drain the toilet bowl to carry out this process. Just make sure to cut the supply of water to the toilet. Use rubber gloves and scrub the area affected with the calcium built up with a wet pumice stone.

Step 2 – Wipe
After the stain comes off, wipe the toilet bowl with a cloth to rid it of any residue left by the pumice stone.

Step 3 – Water supply
Now turn on the water supply to the toilet. Flush the toilet a couple of time to flush away any dirt. Cleaning the toilet bowl at regular intervals will prevent calcium and other stains from settling in the toilet bowl. If you notice a high content of calcium in the water, then use a soft scrub cleaner. Brush the toilet bowl once every week.
Thanks For Visiting Time Saver Maids
Time Saver Maidshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07811641928070240359noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5434017411609640781.post-49312633757404567962010-10-09T15:45:00.000-07:002011-09-09T18:47:54.172-07:00Tips! How to Maintain a Clean Washing Machine - Monthly TipsTime Saver Maids Monthly Tips

How to Maintain a Clean Washing Machine

Machines are designed to work efficiently but they can also wear down, especially a clean washing machine. By keeping your washing machine clean, it will continue to work for a long time.

Tools and Materials Needed

Baking soda

White vinegar

Level

Bleach

Hot water

New hose and fittings if needed

Step 1 - Make Sure Machine Is Working Properly
Inspect your washing machine for wear and tear. Ensure that all of the hoses are intact and none of them are cracked or worn down. Always make sure that there are no visible leaks and watch out for corroded fittings. If any of the fittings or hoses are worn down, you will want to replace these. If your washer machine is a few years old, it is a good idea to replace these parts anyway.

Step 2 - Leveling the Machine
To level the machine you will want to use a level. Make sure to adjust the machine's feet until the level indicates that the machine is level. This is an important step. If you don't level the machine, the constant shaking during wash loads can actually slowly damage the working ability of the machine.

Step 3 - Washing the Exterior of the Machine
Always keep the exterior of the machine clean. You can rub it down with soap or bleach.

Step 4 - Cleaning the Tub
You should clean the tub every 3 months. To do this, think of it as a self-clean. Set the washing machine on the hot water setting and one on dirty. Once the washing machine fills up with water, add 2 cups of white vinegar and a 1/2 cup of baking soda. If you have a high efficiency washing machine, the measurements may differ. Once the washing machine begins to drain the water, you want to increase the washing cycle. After this cycle, set a cycle again to cold water. This cycle will clean out any left over white vinegar and baking soda.

Step 5 - Flushing out Machine Dispensers
Remove your washing machine dispensers and soak them in hot water. Clean out any gunk that exists in them, as well as the top of the machine and the tub. Sometimes your washing machine will not let you remove the dispensers. If this is the case, slowly run hot water through them until they are clean.

Step 6 - A Brand New Machine
After the cleaning, your washing machine will require the use of less detergent and fabric softener. Try using half of what you are normally using. The results will be amazing and will save you money as well.

Step 7 - Call Washing Machine Maintenance
If you want a thoroughly clean washing machine, you can always call a washing machine service technician. They will be able to extend the life of your machine by cleaning the inside of the machine that you were unable to reach. If you want to save the trouble and money of calling someone you can try yourself. Just remember to always unplug the machine before you attempt to remove the front panel.
Thanks For Visiting Time Saver Maids
Time Saver Maidshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07811641928070240359noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5434017411609640781.post-9327418630630371462010-09-06T09:04:00.000-07:002011-09-12T15:00:36.284-07:00Our September Blow-out SpecialAfter seeing a daily type deal online, we decided to offer a coupon/deal similar to that and give people a chance try out our service. Cleaning Outdoor Furniture

Outdoor furniture generally pleads for cleaning at the first sign of spring. Remember always test an inconspicuous spot before using a new cleaner.
Mix a bucket (make sure the bucket is clean) with liquid dish soap, some Borax and ½ cup hydrogen peroxide per gallon of water. Saturate the furniture thoroughly and allow to set 15 minutes. Scrub with a nylon scrub brush and rinse. Be sure to follow the manufacturer's guidelines for cleaning. Some fabrics will not tolerate peroxide.
If any of the metal has rusted, first try using a rust remover found in automotive stores. If the rust refuses to budge, use a #800 ery and dry sand paper to sand the metal and repaint.
Thanks For Visiting Time Saver Maids
Time Saver Maidshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07811641928070240359noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5434017411609640781.post-8386306173046880162010-06-10T14:47:00.000-07:002011-09-10T14:50:30.674-07:00Tips! - How to Remove Cat Urine Odor from Wood Floorboards - From Time Saver MaidsTips! From Time Saver Maids

- How to Remove Cat Urine Odor from Wood Floorboards

If you have both a cat and wood floors, you will eventually need to know how to remove cat urine odor from wood floorboards. Cat urine often seems to be clean but the odor reappears later due to moisture or other causes. Cats often use the same spot again since they can still smell the leftover odor when the human residents of the home can no longer detect it. If urine is caught right away, cleaning it is much easier than cleaning a stain that has had time to soak in. The way that the floorboards are sealed will also determine how badly the urine will soak in. Cracks in the sealant will allow the liquid to seep under the top layer of wood and make it harder to remove.
Tools and Materials Needed:

Vinegar

Sponges

Dry clothes

Enzyme cleaner

Floor sander

Wood sealer

Step 1: Clean It Up
Wipe the area where the urine is puddled with a damp sponge until all traces of the urine are gone. This is the most important step when dealing with a fresh puddle since the odor will be stronger and harder to remove the longer the urine is left on the wood flooring. If you are dealing with a preexisting stain, skip this step and begin with step two.
Step 2: Do a Vinegar Wash
Pour white vinegar over the area and allow it to sit for several minutes. Blot it up completely with a dry cloth. Apply more vinegar with a clean sponge and scrub it into the stained area. Allow the vinegar to seep into any openings in the wood.
Step 3: Rinse
Rinse the area with warm water to remove the vinegar and any traces of urine that is left over. Dry the area with a clean, dry cloth until no more moisture is felt. This is best done by blotting with the cloth rather than wiping the floor. Blotting is done by pressing a dry cloth into the wet wood and patting down on it to allow it to soak up the moisture. When a cloth is dampened, replace it with a new cloth and continue blotting.
Step 4: Use an Enzyme Cleaner
Clean the area again with an enzyme cleaner. While there are many such products on the market, you'll want to choose one that is specifically designed for pet urine stains. Follow the package directions for the particular brand you chose. It is best to test the cleaner on a small portion of the flooring that is not easily seen before using it on the stain to ensure that the cleaner will not stain or damage the wood.
Step 5: If the Odor Remains
Apply a floor sander to the floor if the odor remains after cleaning with an enzyme cleaner. The wood will need to be sanded deeply enough to completely remove the stained part of the wood and leave clean wood exposed. Once the stain has been sanded away, reclean the area with an enzyme cleaner and dry completely. Apply a wood sealer to protect the new wood from damage.
Thanks For Visiting Time Saver Maids
Time Saver Maidshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07811641928070240359noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5434017411609640781.post-35869014024337416252010-03-16T13:04:00.000-07:002011-09-10T14:56:51.205-07:00Tips! - Cigarette Smoke: Natural Ways to Remove the Smell From Wood FurnitureTips! From Time Saver Maids

Cigarette Smoke: Natural Ways to Remove the Smell From Wood Furniture
Browse any flea market or yard sale for secondhand furniture and you are bound to discover beautiful wood pieces at fantastic prices. Unfortunately secondhand wood furniture that looks fantastic might come with unpleasant extras that are sometimes not initially apparent. In closed areas where cigarettes are smoked on a regular basis, furniture and other home furnishings take on the unpleasant smell of cigarette smoke. Walls, window treatments, and everything in between is permeated with the odor of cigarette smoke, but fortunately it can be removed. With proper cleaning and a few natural odor removing tips and tricks, it is possible to remove the smell of cigarette smoke from wood furniture without stripping, sanding, and completely refinishing.

Begin by Cleaning the Wood

When attempting to remove any type of odor, the source of the odor must be removed or the odor will remain. Wood furniture infused with cigarette smoke and sprayed with floral deodorizer will end up smelling like cigarette smoke and flowers. Do not attempt to cover up the smell of cigarette smoke. Get to the bottom of the problem and remove it for good by cleaning the wood with high-quality and completely natural oil soap and water. Follow product label instructions and precautions, and thoroughly clean the smoke residue and all other dirt or grime from the inside as well as the outside of doors, drawers, and all other finished wood surfaces. Once the wood furniture has been thoroughly cleaned, absorb excess moisture with clean dry rags and try one or more natural odor-removing options to completely remove the smell

Air-Dry Wood Furniture Outdoors
If possible, allow wood furniture to air-dry outdoors after thoroughly drying by hand. On a warm clear day, place wood furniture out of direct sunlight for several hours. Not only will the wood furniture dry more thoroughly than it would when drying with rags alone, but air-drying will also help remove the smell of cigarette smoke that has pervaded the wood. Remove all drawers and prop open doors for best results. Follow up with one or more of the following easy, inexpensive, and natural odor-absorbing techniques.

Natural Odor Absorbing Techniques

Vinegar is one of the best natural odor removers, and it does a fantastic job of absorbing the smell left behind by cigarette smoke. Carefully place bowls of ordinary white vinegar in closed drawers and cabinets. The vinegar will gradually absorb the smell of any cigarette smoke residue trapped inside. Allow the vinegar to remain undisturbed for a few days before careful removal.

Newsprint is also a great natural odor-absorbing material, and ordinary sheets of black and white newspaper will remove the smell of cigarette smoke from the interior of wood dresser drawers and cabinets. Loosely crumple several sheets of black and white newsprint, and place them inside tightly closed cabinets and drawers. Keep the papers inside the closed areas for several days. The newspaper will absorb any remaining moisture as well as bad odors caused by cigarette smoke.

Ground coffee had been used for decades to remove bad odors from semi trailers, and it is one of the best natural chemical-free ways to remove the smell of cigarette smoke from wood furniture. To remove the smell of cigarette smoke from the outside as well as the inside of wood furniture, place each completely dry piece separately inside plastic trash bags, and include a bowl filled with freshly ground coffee in each tightly closed bag. Allow the bags to remain closed for at least three days, depending on the severity of the odor problem. The smell of coffee will eventually dissipate after removal, and when properly cleaned beforehand, the furniture will no longer harbor the lingering smell of cigarette smoke.
Baking soda is also a natural odor absorbing material that is very inexpensive. To remove the smell of cigarette smoke without leaving behind another odor, place open boxes or shallow bowls of natural baking soda inside closed drawers and cabinet doors. Allow the baking soda to work for several days to absorb the smell of cigarette smoke before removing. If the baking soda is kept inside tightly closed drawers and cabinet doors for an extended period of time it will leave behind nothing more than a natural fresh scent.
Clay kitty litter is a fantastic natural odor-absorbing material, and it works quite well to remove the smell left behind by cigarette smoke. Place shallow bowls or open paper sacks filled with kitty litter inside closed cabinet doors and drawers. The natural clay litter will draw out any moisture left behind after cleaning the wood furniture, and it will also pull out and absorb the smell left behind by cigarette smoke.
Try one or more of these natural and inexpensive ways to remove the smell of cigarette smoke from wood furniture. Natural methods of odor removal are always best, and sometimes it takes more than just a few days to completely remove the smell. Remove the source of the odor first, and with natural odor-absorbing techniques, the smell left behind by cigarette smoke will eventually be gone for good!
Thanks For Visiting Time Saver Maids
Time Saver Maidshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07811641928070240359noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5434017411609640781.post-8321559179375691742009-06-04T21:57:00.000-07:002011-09-12T21:59:27.398-07:00Tips! - Removing Mildew from Shower DoorsTips! Removing Mildew from Shower Doors

If you have shower doors, it is important to keep them sparkling clean and free from mildew so that your bathroom remains sanitary, smells good, and looks its best. Mildew is a fungus that thrives in moist areas, particularly on shower doors because of the small, enclosed space, heat, and moisture in your bathroom. It can leave your bathroom smelling musty and sour-like.

Maintaining clean, mildew-free shower doors is less unpleasant than having to clean off mildew once it has formed, so always clean your shower doors when you have finished showering. Encourage others in your household to follow this same cleaning and drying procedure. The 7 steps below will not only assist you in preventing the growth of mildew on your shower doors, but will help you in cleaning your doors if mildew has already developed.

Things you will need:

Clean cloth

Bristle brush

Bucket of water mixed with chlorine bleach

Rubber gloves

Step 1 – Keep Shower Doors Dry
The best way to maintain mildew-free shower doors is to keep the mildew from forming. To do this, keep moisture off the doors as much as possible by using a clean, dry towel or cloth after you or members of your household finish showering. This will thoroughly dry the doors. By doing this on an on-going basis, you will be able to prevent the mildew from breeding and adhering to your shower doors.

Step 2 – Maintain Low Humidity
Because humidity is a key factor in encouraging mildew growth, by the simple act of turning on your bathroom fan when you are bathing, showering, or when there is otherwise moist air in your bathroom you will help inhibit mildew growth. Don’t have a fan? Then open a window or use a humidifier or room fan to dehumidify the room. Or, simply increase the air circulation by turning on the AC or its blower.

Step 3 – Leave Lights on
Leave the bathroom lights on while you are showering and for about fifteen minutes afterward. Light reduces the growth of mildew spores, as they seem to thrive best in a dark, dank environment. Sunny bathrooms inhibit mildew growth.

Step 4 – Leave Shower Doors Open
After showering and wiping off the shower doors, keep them open so there is better air circulation, which will inhibit mildew growth.

Step 5 – Avoid Using Soap
Use a shower gel instead of hand soap when you shower. This will help prevent scum buildup that eventually creates a growth environment for mildew.

Step 6 – Clean off Mildew
If mildew has adhered to your shower doors, you can use a simple solution consisting of five cups of water to one cup of chlorine bleach. Use this solution to scrub off the offensive mildew. It will not only clean the mildew off shower doors but will also disinfect the doors. Use a stiff bristle brush, apply the water/chlorine solution to the entire door, and begin scrubbing. For areas where using a larger brush makes it difficult for you to reach mildew, such as in crevices or the metal door tracking area, use an old toothbrush to scrub these areas. Be sure to discard the toothbrush after using it.
Thanks For Visiting Time Saver Maids
Time Saver Maidshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07811641928070240359noreply@blogger.com
